What Is Mental Health Coaching?
Mental Health Coaching Not to be confused with therapy, mental health coaching does not touch on treating mental illness. Instead, it takes a holistic approach to people dealing with depression, anxiety, and lack of motivation and helps them rediscover their sense of purpose and meaning in life to regain their will to take on the challenges of life and thrive in the world.
The role of a mental health coach is to identify the mental issues the client is struggling with. Issues, not illness, and this distinction can be difficult to make in many cases. In today’s day and age, people show signs of depression from their teenage years and unknowingly carry it throughout their lives. All the while is unaware of their potential. This slump in mental health can often be misdiagnosed as mental illness. That which could be treated with thought and behavioral modification end up being subject to medications, which not only deteriorates the mind but also takes a toll on the body.
